Olive

Considered a fruit and not a vegetable, olive originates from western Asia and the Mediterranean coast. It symbolizes life, renewal and peace.

Processed before they become edible, olives are usually pickled and brine before consumed. In terms of oil, it is healthier and has a more delicate flavor.

Benefits
Olives are known to reduce signs of aging, strengthen immune system and protect from free radicals. A natural antioxidant, they are widely used in cosmetics and skin care products as they prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while rejuvenating the skin.
History
Archaeological evidence suggests that olives were grown in Crete since 2,500 B.C. In ancient Greece, the first eye shadow was formulated by mixing olive oil and coal. Ancient Roman women used to also apply the oil to their skin and hair as sun protection.
