Vanilla

Cultivated in northeastern Madagascar, in the Sava coast near Vohemar, Sambava, Antalaha and Andapa, vanilla is exoticism at its finest.

Vanilla contains rich, creamy notes with a sweet buttery aroma. Because of the intensive labor required to produce it, vanilla is the most expensive spice after saffron.

Benefits
Antioxidant-rich, vanilla aids to protect from free radicals and toxins. Its sweet scent lifts the spirit, soothes the nerves and promotes a restful sleep.
History
Vanilla from Madagascar is sought after for its superior flavor and aroma. The only fruit-bearing member of the orchid family, it is known that the Totonac Indians from Mexico were the first to cultivate vanilla before the 15th century.
